Backing up for the New Update
« on: December 05, 2015, 10:17:35 AM »
Hmmm, not sure if I'm just confused, but my backup doesn't really back up anything. I copied over the account data file so I can get all the back. But in terms of backup, nothing else was saved, especially during the update. Great update by the way. But it was tedious resetting all groups and commands again. Maybe someone can shed some light on this for me. Thanks in advance. :D

When you started the new update, if everything went well, you should have a copy of your accounts and utb database in your backup folder located in Tools > Options > Backup. Why did you have to copy over any files? Did you install the update in a different folder?

Thanks for the reply, and the new install location sent it to my downloads, however my UTB's actually location is in my programfiles folder. So it was basically a fresh batch from scratch. The install went well, just nothing carried over. Was there a way to change update location?

Edit: Also I had to copy the accounts file from my last version of UTB since the new one had no one logged at all. Probably having to do with what you were mentioning, with the download location and so forth. So I copied it over for the time being so that I can at least have all the points, names and such.

When you run an update you should run it from the bot, Help > Check for Update, or relaunching the bot will detect if an update is ready. This way you should not have to move any files around.

But basically if you close the bot, place your original utb.db and accounts.db in the new install directory and open the bot it should load your settings and accounts.

For sure, I just clicked update as prompted, which is when it installed it a separate location. Never the less, I guess I didn't see the other database file. In which I just brought that over. Now everything is back in place.

Side note: sometimes when I'm creating a cmd, I get a certain error. Not sure if you are looking into that or if you want me to make a new thread. But I get back an error and the program closes.

Thanks again for your response.
